One of the most eastern islands of the Northern Sporades, Alonisos is considered a paradise for fans of recreation in the style of Robinson. The capital of the island and at the same time its main port Patitirion (or Patitiri) is conveniently located in a sheltered bay in the south-east of Alonisos. Because of the earthquakes, not so much antiquity has been preserved here, but the cozy atmosphere of the narrow streets and the good nature of the local residents override the lack of "an excursion component."
Actually, the main decoration of the island is of a natural nature - it was created in 1992, the National Marine Park, which is in the east of Alonisos. It is inhabited by rare seals, monks, dolphins, wild goats and seabirds. In these places, as well as throughout the island, 14 marked trails are laid, opening for every turn more and more corners of this bright, lost in the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea, a truly paradise island.
