The authorities of Lappeenranta intend to introduce in the near future a tourist tax levied on the guests of local hotels

The amount of the future collection will not be very different from that other European cities, where a similar measure operates. According to preliminary information, the amount of tourist tax will be only 50 euro cents per person per night. The city administration will spend the proceeds for municipal needs related to the renovation and maintenance of urban infrastructure facilities.

However, most Russian tourists visiting Lappeenranta do not have to worry: the tourist tax does not apply to guests staying in the city for several hours to replenish the food stocks
