The Duomo area in Syracuse

The tourist map of Europe will soon be replenished by another city whose authorities levy a tax on travelers.

The authorities of Italian Syracuse located on east coast of Sicily, have prepared a bill, according to which the city's guests will additionally pay between 1 and 2, 5 EUR per night spent at any local hotel. At the same time, the maximum duration of tax payments for tourists will not exceed four days, regardless of the total length of stay in Sarakuza.

At the moment the bill is under consideration in the municipal council. It is assumed that the money collected from the guests will be used for the construction of new and reconstruction of existing urban tourism infrastructure
