How to get here
Taxi from Nikos Kazantzakis airport will cost about € 20 . You can also take the bus: to Heraklion (route number 1, leaves every 15 minutes from 6 am to 1 am), and then to Kokkini-Hani (flights - every 30 minutes).

Beaches
The main beach of Kokkini-Hani is located at the entrance to the village from the side of Heraklion. The sandy beach stretches for 400 meters in length and 50 meters in width. Well equipped (you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas, there are cafes and bars), which is both plus and minus - in the high season there is a huge number of people, especially on Wednesdays and Sundays, when locals join the tourists.
Behind the hotel, bordering on a large beach, there is another one - also sandy.

A few minutes drive from Kokkini-Hani, in the village of Anopolis, is one of the largest in Europe water parks - WaterCity. On the territory of 8 square. km. there are 34 water attractions. The water park is open from 10.00 to 18.30. Adult ticket price: € 22, for children from 90 to 140 cm - € 16, kids up to 90 cm - free of charge (as of April 2011)
To the south-east of Anopolis the monastery of St. John the Theologian towers over the pretty valley , whose powerful walls resemble a fortress more likely. The monastery has a rich history, in which there were many sad pages - at first the brothers had to move to these parts to escape the raids of pirates, and after it was repeatedly destroyed, but then rebuilt again.
In the Kokkini-Hani district there is a place of archaeological excavations of Nyros, where in 1918 a beautifully preserved Minoan house (16th century BC) was found. The objects found on its territory and nearby allowed us to conclude that the house belonged to the High Priest
3 km to the east of the village is the Cretaquarium - Crete Aquarium, which acquaints visitors with the fascinating underwater world of the Mediterranean . Here is more 100 species and more than 1,000 marine species . Working hours: from May to September - from 9 . 30 to 21 . 00 ., at the rest of the time - from 9 . 30 to 17 . 00 .
