How to get here
Taxi from Heraklion airport to Gouves will cost about € 30 (for May 2011). You can get there by bus: to Heraklion (route No. 1, leaves every 15 minutes from 6 am to 1 am), and then to Gouves (flights every 30 minutes).
The bus is also convenient to get to the surrounding villages and Chersonissos. There are car, moped and bicycle rental offices in the village.

Beaches of Gouves

There are many cafes, restaurants and bars in Kato Gouves, most of them are on the main street and on the waterfront. The traditional taverns alternate with pizzerias, bars and restaurants of Chinese cuisine
Entertainment, excursions and sights Gouves
Along the coast of Gouves stretches the dear heart of our tourist and uncharacteristic for the resorts of Crete promenade - a lit embankment where there are bars, taverns and shops . On the beach there are water activities: water skiing, bananas, parachutes, and the Big Blue diving center. Between Kokkini Hani and Gouves, separated by a former military base, is the Cretaquarium, a Cretan Aquarium that you can walk along the shoreline or take the public bus.

Gouves's neighborhood
A few kilometers into the island, 1, 5 km north-west from the village of Skotino is located Cave St. . Paraskeva, same name I the temple that stands above it . The cave is one of the largest and most impressive in Crete, its dimensions are about 160 meters long and 36 meters wide . Divided into several "rooms", it is filled with stalactites and stalagmites of a bizarre shape . Archaeological finds indicate the use of the cave for religious purposes since the Minoan period .
