How to get there
By air:
The Ionian islands have four airports: Corfu, Preveza (since Lefkada is 20 km away, most of the tourists traveling there for holidays arrive on Prevez), Kefalonia and Zakynthos, which in summer take many charter flights from cities of Northern Europe, as well as flights from Athens (three times a week to Corfu and Zakynthos)
By water:
There are two ports on the Peloponnese, from where ferries depart for the Ionian Islands - it is Patra (in Corfu, Ithaki and Kefalonia) and Kilini (Kefalonia and Zakynthos). Corfu and Paxi can also be reached from Igoumenitsa (Epiros, Igoumenitsa), to Ithaki and Kefalonia from Astaxos (Stiria-Hellas, Astakos). The cost and schedule are constantly changing, it is necessary to clarify on the site.
There is almost no communication between the northern and southern Ionian islands, it is necessary to get with a transfer on the mainland (except for the ferry between Corfu and Paxi). But all the southern islands are well connected with each other: between Lefkada, Kefalonia and Ithaca constantly cruise ferries and boats. Also twice a day you can get from southern Kefalonia to northern Zakynthos.
Corfu is connected by waterways with three ports in Italy: Bari, Venice and Brindisi. In the season (July-August) many ferries leave from here, but even in winter, at least one flight per week is made. In addition, Corfu can be reached by Albania.
