There is one island near the coast of Crete, which is very much loved by the people of Crete. Located on the island of Khrissi in the Libyan Sea, 8 miles south of Ierapetra, which is the southernmost city of Crete. It is said that the second name of the island - Haiduronisi - comes from the fact that the inhabitants of Hieropetra used to bring old donkeys here.

There is a legend that a few years ago the director of Ferrari was so fascinated by the beauty of the beaches that he even wanted to buy Khrissi, but the locals did not allow it.

Khrissi was formed millions of years ago, and 7,000 years ago it was under water . There are golden sand, dunes and thickets of Lebanese cedar and juniper . Trees about two hundred years, and in height they reach only 10 meters, while the Lebanese cedar usually grows up to 50 . Grove is fenced, and the entrance to it is prohibited, because the territory of the island is a reserve . Collecting sand and small seashells too not welcome . Officially the island is included in the program as there are a lot of rare plants here .

The beaches have everything you need: sun loungers, umbrellas and even a stall where you can buy ice cream or a bottle of mineral water. On the island itself there are no rivers and lakes. You can get here from Ierapetra by boat in 50 minutes. From May to October to Khrissi every half hour followed by ships. You can put an umbrella and lay the litter almost anywhere on the island, where there are fewer tourists.
