The Glienicki Bridge is a special attraction in Potsdam, primarily from a historical point of view. During the Cold War, it served as a kind of boundary between the scattered West and East Germany. At the same time, several unofficial names appeared at the Glienicki Bridge, namely: the "spy bridge" and the "007 bridge."
The fact is that during the years of strained relations between the United States and the USSR, important "gatherings" took place several times on which the conflicting countries exchanged intelligence spies. As the saying goes, we to you - yours, you are ours.
As for the history of the construction of the Glienicki Bridge, it has already exceeded one hundred years. Officially, the bridge was opened in 1907. Before that time, there was already a bridge, but it was wooden and could not cope with the traffic load.
Visit the Glienicki Bridge not only for historical reasons, but also to capture beautiful panoramas on the Havel River and the surroundings of Berlin and Potsdam. By the way, it is especially romantic on the Glinicki Bridge in the evening, when lights and lighting are turned on here.
