The Frauenkirche church is located in the historical center of Dresden, practically next door to the famous Brühl terrace, the Academy of Fine Arts and the Palace of Culture. The temple was erected in the first half of the 18th century, but during the Second World War it survived a severe bombardment. The church literally began to restore them in pieces only in the 90s of the last century, and the official opening of the new building took place some eight years ago. Now this is one of the most beautiful and visited attractions of Dresden.
You can admire the majestic temple not only from the outside, the interior decoration of the Frauenkirche church is equally impressive. It is curious that the temple has seven entrances, each of which is designated by a certain letter of the alphabet. In the main nave, you can go through the door marked D. The entrance to the Frauenkirche church is free for tourists. If you want, you can leave a small amount as a donation for the needs of the church.
On weekdays the Frauenkirche church works like this: 10:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 18:00. At the weekend, the temple can also be visited, but on Saturday and Sunday there are often wedding ceremonies, christenings and concerts, during which, of course, the church will not be possible to inspect. But! Every day (except Sundays) for all those who wish in the church of Frauenkirche there are guided tours devoted to the history and architecture of the temple. However, the story of this Dresden sightseeing guide is only in German.
For the convenience of tourists, the church has so-called audio guides (these are players with headphones) that can be rented at any time and independently inspect the temple. A portable "guide" also does not hide from you any interesting fact and will tell all about the temple in Russian. But his services will cost 2, 5 EUR.
But keep in mind that this will require a lot of physical effort. The fact is that at a height of 24 meters you will climb the elevator, and the remaining nearly 50 meters will have to be overcome on foot. On your way there will be steep spiral staircases and stepless ramps with a high angle of ascent. But believe me: this fizryadka worth it, then to enjoy with ecstasy the panoramic view of Dresden. By the way, the climb to the observation deck will cost 8 EUR per person.
The nearest stops (a few minutes' walk from them to Dresden's sights) are called Altmarkt and Pirnaischer Platz
All prices are for November 2013
