One of the most cozy, charming, picturesque areas of Germany's business giant Frankfurt is Alt-Sachsenhausen (which means "Old Saxon houses"). It's even surprising how in this city of brilliant skyscrapers and modern office centers, a corner of the old German province was blended in its best manifestation. However, everything that can be seen here has been carefully restored after the Second World War, which, of course, does not detract from the beauty and merits of this place.
Alt-Sachsenhausen is famous not only for its villas in the traditional Saxon style, but also for the flea market that spreads out his motley trays every Saturday. Here you can buy and antiques, and completely unnecessary, but terribly charming trinkets, some dowels, frames, bells or postcards that will be the perfect souvenir from Frankfurt.
The best time for researching Alt-Sachsenhausen is the evening. The walk begins with the adjoining section of the Museumsufer, from where amazing views of evening Frankfurt and the thousands of lights of the Bank Quarter on the other side of the river will open. Then on the way to look into the Museum of Cinema (Schaumainkai, 41) and, finally, dine at one of the local restaurants. And the last point of the program is obligatory
Alt Sachsenhausen and cider
Alt-Sachsenhausen is rightly considered the best place in the city, where it is worth trying the local apple cider with a strength of 6-7 degrees. And poured it everywhere - and in the pathos restaurants, and in budget taverns.
In general, cider is a native French drink that for a long time has been "wandering" on the territory of Normandy and Brittany. In Frankfurt, the apple tradition appeared two centuries ago, and immediately became popular - cider was made here literally in every family, using only fresh apples and without resorting to yeast.
Interesting fact that in the homeland of cider, in France, it is poured into ceramic mugs or bowls, but in Frankfurt cider is usually served in blue or gray jugs, and drink from ribbed glasses. Snacking Apfelwine ("apple wine") is better with cheese fondue or pork ribs.
The ideal time to get acquainted with a fragrant drink is the middle of August or October. At the end of the summer, in August 20, the city traditionally hosts the Cider Festival. And in October the season of apple wine officially starts, when the fermented summer harvest begins to be bottled. During these autumn days, advertisements of the most famous brand of the Possmvélin Possmann hang around the whole city, and the present city tramway bar travels around the Old Town.

Address: Kleine Rittergasse. How to get there: from the Frankfurt cathedral go strictly to the south, to the river, quickly reach the charming pedestrian bridge Eisener Steg. Go to the other side of the river and take it to the left, after 500 m you get to the Alt-Sachsenhausen area. In total from the cathedral no more than 15-20 minutes of step-by-step walking.
