Add a review about the Red Bridge in Polotsk
This bridge across the Polota River is called red not because it is beautiful. But because during the battles of the Patriotic War of 1812 he was completely filled with blood.
The battle between Russian and French troops took place in mid-October. The fighting was brutal, the parties did not want to give in. It was a local apocalypse. The bridge was flooded with blood, which flowed into the river in streams.
In the 70s of the last century, on the site of the old wooden bridge, a reinforced concrete bridge with the former design elements was built. Before the bridge there is a memorable sign with the text, which says that through this bridge the Russian troops entered Polotsk and released him from the enemy. This was the beginning of the expulsion of Napoleonic soldiers from the Belarusian land.
